Dance at the Inverell Eisteddfod
The Inverell Dance Eisteddfod is a celebration of artistry, dedication, and expression through movement. Run by a passionate team of volunteers, this event provides dancers of all ages and levels with the opportunity to showcase their talent in a variety of genres, including classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, tap, and more. With a supportive and inspiring atmosphere, our eisteddfod encourages performers to grow, challenge themselves, and share their love of dance. Whether competing for excellence or dancing for the pure joy of performance, every step is a testament to dedication, passion, and community spirit.

Dance Genre Descriptions
CONTEMPORARY - Incorporates abstract and extreme concepts. Contemporary dance should explore the dancer’s body and range of movements. Using classical ballet technique but includes the use of the torso, floor and individual choreographic practices. Work should strive to be conceptual and not guided strongly by lyrics.

Hip Hop - Routine that utilises influences from Hip Hop/Breakdance or evolved as part of Hip Hop culture.

Tap - Any style or tempo of Tap, must demonstrate rhythm, clarity, expression, light and shade, musicality and technique. Tap music accompaniment can include vocals.

NEO CLASSICAL - Incorporates elements of traditional ballet technique while embracing modern and abstract movement. Neo classical is to be performed en pointe.

NATIONAL CHARACTER - A folk or traditional national dance choreographed to appropriate music with costumes depicting the style of the chosen country.
